Superior Shell Technology - Pearl's Superior Shell Technology (SST) addresses how the drum shell plies (thin sheets of wood glued together) are arranged and glued. The SST gluing process uses extreme heat and pressure to create a drum cylinder that resonates fully and sounds great.
6 and 8 Ply Technology - Most drum sets have drums that have the same number of plies. The VX Vision drums, however, have 6 ply toms, and the floor tom and bass drum are 8 ply. This results in a dynamically balanced sound with the larger drums carrying low frequencies and the smaller toms having a clear, resonant tone.
Lifetime Limited Warranty - Pearl has such faith in their Superior Shell Technology that they offer a limited lifetime warranty on their drums.
Sensitone Snare Drum - The VX Vision drum sets feature Pearl's legendary SensiTone snare drum. This steel shell drum has amazing tone and clarity when played at any volume.
Birch/Basswood Blend - VX Vision drum shells are a blend of Birch and Basswood. This means the outer plies of the laminated drum shell are Birch and the inner plies are Basswood. Basswood is a softer wood than Birch causing the drum sound to be less clear than 100% Birch shells.
Single Ply Drum Heads - This set comes with single ply drum heads that are harder to tune and do not sound as good as double ply drum heads.
