The Value - You can't beat this price for a complete, name-brand, 100% poplar wood drum set.  Many sets are sold without the drum throne or the bass drum pedal.  But this Pearl Forum FZ set includes everything:  Drums, cymbals, hardware, drum throne, bass drum pedal and even a pair of sticks are included in this package.

Superior Shell Technology - Pearl's Superior Shell Technology (SST) addresses how the drum shell plies (thin sheets of wood glued together) are arranged and glued.  The SST gluing process uses extreme heat and pressure to create a drum cylinder that resonates fully and sounds great.

Integrated Suspension System (ISS) - Rack toms (the toms attached to the bass drum) are mounted using the ISS tom suspension system.  This means that instead of having holes drilled in the drum shells to mount the toms on the bass drum, toms are suspended from a mounting bracket attached to the rim of the tom.  Fewer drill holes in the drum shells means more resonant and better sounding toms.

Black Drum Hardware - Black drum hardware gives the set a really sleek look.  Two finishes (Jet Black, Red Wine) feature black drum hardware, making them the only standard black drum hardware kits in their class.

Lifetime Limited Warranty - Pearl has such faith in their Superior Shell Technology that they offer a limited lifetime warranty on their drums.

Dislikes:

Single Ply Drum Heads - This set comes with single ply drum heads that are harder to tune and do not sound as good as double ply drum heads.

Conclusion:

This is a well constructed, great sounding drum set that can be used for years.  Pearl's commitment to craftsmanship and sound quality makes this kit a great value!
